Hosting GABF at home (or other beer tasting parties!)

This post is a long time coming. Great American Beer Fest was over a month ago and so was my DIY event. However, beer tasting can happen more than once a year (thankfully).  If you are looking to host a little holiday soiree over some suds, here are my tips from previous experience.

Set the scene: If you want this to be official, decor is key. This means proper table settings for each guest which includes a notebook, matching beer glasses and any table top decor you see fit! Look good, feel good.

Pick a Style and Run With It: For my mini GABF I chose to consume IPAs. Get at least five different varieties of the same style ale. You'll be surprised by how much each beer differs and you may even find a new favorite! We did a blind a taste test... Talk about mind blowing! Without seeing the labels my opinions totally shifted. This made the event very funny and extra entertaining. Just when I thought I was an expert in beer...

Provide Some Snacks: Obviously! Pretzels are ideal for cleansing the palate in between beers and is the sampling of choice at GABF. This will make your event oh-so professional.

Warning- Choosing IPAs may be delicious and flavorful, but it will also be extra filling and umm... alcoholic. Then again, maybe that's what you are aiming for! Hoppy Holidays!
