couple workouts

Happy Monday! Today is all about relationships and getting back to puppy love. So here's the story on couple workouts...

How would you describe your relationship with your significant other... hot and passionate? Yeah, maybe sometimes, but truth be told those words couldn’t be further from the facts. Between work, other obligations, and the common stresses of everyday life, it’s easy to let our romantic relationships take the back seat (or a place on the couch in your pajamas while you watch your favorite series together). It's a "hoo-hum" lifestyle that happens more often than not.

Which brings me to this week. I decided I wanted to get back into cycling. I used to go all of the time with a friend. We motivated one another and made sure we each attended the class. Since my friend had moved to a different city I hadn’t made my way back to the bike.  With a new passion to try again, naturally I recruited my significant other to join.  What was a mindless offer turned into one of the best dates we’d experienced in a while. Together we were sweaty, passionate, and energetic. Those feelings lasted into dinner where we maintained enthusiasm and our feel good attitude. Conversation was great; we had a common experience from the day to chat about. And instead of dragging after a long day, we were still buzzing from our biker’s high. It was awesome.

By the next day I was still smitten by the experience. I researched the benefits of working out as a couple. You would be surprised by what this can bring to a relationship. If you are interested in learning more I recommend reading this article published by the Huffington Post.

My suggestion, pick an exercise group or activity you have been eager to try. That way you have a partner in crime to tackle the new challenge with. Even if you both suck or end up hating the selected workout you'll have something to laugh at when you get home.

Good luck!
